One of the first steps to achieving a timeless, elegant style is to pay attention to your personal grooming.

To be perfectly honest, it is absolutely impossible for someone to exude elegance without being immaculately groomed.

So where do we start?

At the very least, you must have a clean face, neat and presentable nails, and most importantly, you need to smell fresh.

What I mean by fresh is having showered and not reeking of fragrance. Unfortunately, many women are extremely heavy handed when it comes to applying their fragrance. 

Generous spritzes of fragrance can be as offensive to people as body odour.  Rather than inviting others into your orbit, sadly it can create a barrier that results in distancing people.  

The next step is developing your own customised skin care and hair care routine.  Find the products that work best for you and ensure you have the appropriate maintenance for both morning and night. Keep it simple, pay attention to what works for you and above all, be disciplined about it!

As for makeup, I find that unless you are an elite makeup artist, try to apply a minimum amount of makeup. The last thing you need is a look that is competing for attention.  Clutter is never good for your well-being.

The key is to always keep your look fresh, updated and understated.

Go for a more natural look during the day, however you can afford to ramp up the look for evening events. 

Last but not least, you need to give some thought to your demeanour, as it plays a such a central role in your presentation.

For example, are you always in a mad rush or do you have a look that reflects inner peace and balance?

It’s exhausting to be around people who live life at a frenetic pace.  Think about the people you gravitate towards?  Are they relaxed and focused or are they constantly distracted?

Don’t underestimate the power of your facial expression and its ability to engage with others.  Non-verbal communication is an integral element of your personal style.  Put simply, it reflects how you run your life.

Just remember the bottom line.  A woman with timeless elegance is someone you want to be around – all of the time.
