Hamilton Island has become the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Whitsunday Islands and it certainly didn’t disappoint.  The island reflects a stylish harmony of nature in well-appointed accommodation set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Coral Sea.

A Whitehaven sojourn to one of the world’s most spectacular beaches is an absolute must.  Exquisite in every way, put simply it’s heaven on a stick!  

While some beaches may boast softer granules than others, the basic fact remains; you’ll find consistently whiter-than-white powder sand and luminous swirls of turquoise, blue and green water.

With some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world, the clear waters of the Whitsundays are a magnet for anyone with an interest in marine life. The richness and variety is astonishing; dazzling coral walls and schools of brightly coloured tropical fish await your reef visit. 

Hamilton Island is a multi-generational destination with the main thrust of the resort side of the island being geared up for families. 

The island accommodation will suit every guest and it really is a tale of two sides offering entirely different styles of accommodation.

We stayed in the Reef Tower and woke up to the tranquillity of the Coral Sea every morning. The rooms and suites were exceedingly spacious and the size of the bathroom was sheer bliss.  His and hers vanity basins on opposing sides of an expansive bathroom meant that I wasn’t subjected to a long-suffering look when I unpacked my cosmetics and took up residence!

We travelled as a couple and weren’t at any stage overwhelmed by the presence of families or little people.  

For guests who seek the tranquillity of surroundings free from noise or clutter, refuge can be sought in the ultraluxe Qualia Resort located on the northern end of the island.  Without a hint of apology, children under the age of 16 are not welcome and there is absolutely no compromise with comfort and ambience. 

Qualia is an exclusive sanctuary within an island oasis. Guests are cocooned and indulged with a distinctive interpretation of personalised service. 

I can’t wait for our next visit to Hamilton Island and Qualia will most certainly be our destination for indulgence and sheer unbridled bliss!
